Volunteers Make it Happen!!!

Without volunteers at SJS there would be several activities and projects that just wouldn't happen.  We can't venture to guess how many hours are logged annually by Home and School volunteers.

How can you volunteer?
1st way  - At the beginning of the school year a form goes out with all the committees and groups.  You simply fill it out and you will be contacted.
Here's the form from 2011 - just click
HERE.

2nd way - Sign up at Cirriculum Night at the beginning of the school year in each classroom or at Fall Parent/Teacher conferences.

3rd way - Send an e-mail to the Home and School Association and your name can be added to our list of "on call" volunteers.  We recruit parents from this list for events like Family Fun Night or the Fall Fundraiser Delivery Day,  events that are a one time thing and may range from one hour to several hours of your time... whatever works for you.

4th way - Call the school office at (402)572-0039 and they can help direct you to the right person.

Cafeteria Volunteers~

Ever severed over 650 students lunch five days a week?  It happens every day at school between 11:15am and 1:10 pm.

More volunteers are currently needed!

Cafeteria volunteers are in charge of scraping/rinsing/
washing/restocking the trays, silverware, etc.  Upon arrival shortly after 11am, volunteers walk around and help out the littler ones with milks, yogurts or whatever they need.  This is the perfect opportunity to say "Hi" to your kids, and they (well, the little ones anyway) get pretty excited to see you.   It's a good opportunity to see the students in their school environment, which may appeal to some new parents with young kids just starting out.  The volunteers are not involved with serving the food.  Volunteers are usually finished around 1:30 p.m.

These lunchtimes wouldn't run effeciently without volunteers who help each day.  The goal is to have 10 teams of  four members including a team leader.  Each team has an assigned week day and they rotate every two weeks. If you are unable to commit to one day every two weeks, they also are in need of volunteers to be on the substitute list.

If you are available to help please contact Christy Mordeson at 571-3353 or mordeson@cox.net or Karen Wilmes at 571-8276.
