Holiday Parties in the Classrooms
Home and School provides treats for all students for two holiday parties each year (Halloween and Valentine's Day or St. Patrick's Day). This year everyone will recieve Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and bottles of water. For 2012 they celebrated St. Patrick's Day instead of Valentine's Day since school was not in session on Febrary 14 this year. The $5 dues that are paid to Home and School at the beginning of the school year are applied to the costs for the parties.
As a side note ~ Only grades K - 3 have parties in their rooms. The upper grades just enjoy the treats!
Playground and Recess

Every other year the association purchases either new woodchips for the playground or new balls, hula hoops, jump ropes, etc. for each classroom to use at recess. We have also purchased some of the playground equipment and the basketball hoops.
Fieldtrips
In an effort to keep costs down for classroom field trips, Home and School budgets money each year to help pay for field trip expenses. Families typically still have to pay a portion of the cost for their student especially if there is an admission fee or if the class is traveling a great distance.
Woodchips for the playground
Every-other-year the association provides funds to add to and replace the woodchips. Special woodchips are purchased to ensure that they are free from objects like nails or other metal pieces that could injure the children.
May Baskets for May Day
For 2011 spring the student each received a May Basket compliments of the association. The baskets had candy treats and a small flowering plant to put in their gardens at home. Due to the expense, the May Baskets will not be done for 2012.
